Coeliac UK has hundreds of volunteers who play a crucial and direct role in supporting our gluten free community

How to volunteer

  • Find a role: We have a range of different volunteering roles to get involved in, from working directly with other people with coeliac disease, to supporting us behind the scenes in our busy office.  We are committed to making volunteering as simple as possible with most roles based within your local community.
  • Apply: Please register your interest using the button below. The Volunteering team will then email or call you to arrange a time for a chat.
  • Receive support: All volunteers will be given relevant resources and training for their role. The Coeliac UK Volunteering team are on hand to provide ongoing help and support during your time as a volunteer. Email us at volunteering@coeliac.org.uk

Role Description Location
Local Group Committee Member To provide local support through our local group. If there is no local group near you why not consider one of the other ways to support your local gluten free community below. Anywhere there is an active local group
Local Meet Up Host Coeliac UK Local Meet Ups offer a relaxed and informal form of support for people with coeliac disease and those living gluten free. They are run by friendly volunteer hosts and work on a drop-in basis which often appeals to people who might not attend a more formal gathering. Across the UK
Community Team co-leader Our community teams are run by two or more co-leaders and aim to provide support and connections to people in their local community who are living gluten free. The teams can run a range of different activities which might include talks, coffee mornings, awareness events, meals out, supermarket tours and much, much more. If you are already connected to others living gluten free in your area you are welcome to volunteer with us together. Across the UK – this role requires at least two individuals in a local area to take it forward.
Office Volunteer As an office volunteer you’ll be helping us with a variety of administration tasks to support the charity and our gluten free community. Volunteering in our High Wycombe office can help you improve your administration and IT skills and is a great way to gain valuable work experience within the charity sector.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I volunteer if I work full time?

Yes. Many of our volunteers work full time.

We aim to provide flexible roles which can be carried out around your other commitments, be they work, family or leisure.

How many hours do you require from volunteers?

It’s entirely up to you how many hours you can give. There are a range of roles requiring different amounts of time – from long term involvement in the Local Voluntary Support Groups to one off projects.

What support am I given as a volunteer?

Our Volunteering team at our High Wycombe office are dedicated to supporting you. They will provide you with the materials and tools you need to support you in your role.
