Chilli Con Carne

A yummy winter warming dish to keep you cosy on those chilly winter evenings!

Ingredients

  • 500g (18oz) minced beef
  • 400g (14oz) tin of chopped tomatoes
  • Small tin of sweetcorn
  • Handful of mushrooms
  • 1 onion
  • 400g (14oz) tin of kidney beans
  • 1 tsp (5g) mixed herbs
  • 1 tsp (5g) ground cumin
  • 1 tsp (5g) mild or hot chilli powder
  • Couple of squares of plain chocolate*

Method

  1. Chop mushrooms and the onion into bite size pieces
  2. Fry the minced beef, onions and mushrooms in frying pan. (Drain off the oil from the frying pan)
  3. Add a tin of chopped tomatoes, sweetcorn, mushrooms, kidney beans, chocolate and the herbs and spices to the cooked minced beef
  4. Cook until all ingredients heated through
  5. Serve with brown or white rice.
