Ingredients

  • 1 large unpeeled potato
  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 red onion grated
  • 2 tbsp coarsley chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 tsp dried mint
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • Lemon quarters, for serving

Method

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 190°C, 375°F, gas mark 5
  2. Place the potato in a small pan with plenty of water and bring to the boil. Cook until soft when pierced with a fork.
  3. Meanwhile, put the beef, onion, parsley, oregano, mint, cinnamon and egg into a bowl and mix through.
  4. Drain the potatoes and when cool enough to handle, peel and then grate into a bowl. Season well with salt and pepper and mix everything together with a wooden spoon.
  5. Knead the mixture with you hands and make a compact mix. Form walnut sized meatballs of about 25g but you can make them bigger or smaller if you like.
  6. Place on an oven tray and bake for 15 minutes or until cooked through.
  7. Serve hot with lemon quarters.
