These beef and potato meatballs are very popular in Greece and they are lovely as a meze. Traditionally these are fried but in this recipe they are oven baked

Ingredients
- 1 large unpeeled potato
- 500g minced beef
- 1 red onion grated
- 2 tbsp coarsley chopped flat-leaf parsley
- 1 tsp dried mint
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- Lemon quarters, for serving
Method
- Pre-heat the oven to 190°C, 375°F, gas mark 5
- Place the potato in a small pan with plenty of water and bring to the boil. Cook until soft when pierced with a fork.
- Meanwhile, put the beef, onion, parsley, oregano, mint, cinnamon and egg into a bowl and mix through.
- Drain the potatoes and when cool enough to handle, peel and then grate into a bowl. Season well with salt and pepper and mix everything together with a wooden spoon.
- Knead the mixture with you hands and make a compact mix. Form walnut sized meatballs of about 25g but you can make them bigger or smaller if you like.
- Place on an oven tray and bake for 15 minutes or until cooked through.
- Serve hot with lemon quarters.
