Method
- To assemble in jar, layer your dry ingredients: flour, almonds, caster sugar, brown sugar and then top with the chocolate or raisins, wrapped in cling film
- Decorate your jar – use a square of fabric of your choice, some ribbon, or even seasonal evergreens for a festive flourish.
To make the cookies:
- Preheat oven to 180°C/160° Fan/ Gas Mark 4
- Line a couple of baking sheets with greaseproof paper
- In a bowl, beat the butter until pale, add the egg and beat well. Remove sachet of chocolate chips/raisins from jar
- Add the rest of the cookie mix into the bowl with the egg and butter and mix well.
- Add the milk and chocolate chips/raisins and combine
- Drop rounded spoonfuls of the mix on to the prepared baking sheets, allowing enough room for the cookies to spread
- Bake for around 15 minutes or until golden
- Leave to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack. Serve fresh or allow to cool completely before placing in an airtight container where they will keep for a couple of days.
