International Coeliac Disease Symposium 2024, 5 - 7 September

This September, the International Society for the Study of Coeliac Disease (ISSCD) will be hosting their 20th biennial research conference in Sheffield City Hall.

The International Coeliac Disease Symposium (ICDS) takes place every two years and this is the first time it's been held in the UK having previously been held in locations including Sorrento and Paris. The event is not likely to be held again in the UK within this generation, so it's a really special opportunity that Coeliac UK is thrilled to be a part.

Speakers at the event will include:

  • Peter Gillett, Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Scotland
  • Michael Fitzpatrick, Gastroenterologist and GI immunology researcher, Oxford
  • Bob Anderson, President of the ISSCD, Australia
  • Jason Tye-Din, Gastroenterologist, Australia
  • Carlo Catassi, Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Italy
  • Riccardo Troncone, Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Italy
  • Peter Green, Gastroenterologist, New York

The Coeliac UK team will be present at the event and our team will be speaking across various forums, including the Patient Forum on 7 September. Speakers will include:

  • Tristan Humphries, Head of Advocacy: What do patients want?
  • Chris Dilloway, Chair of the Board at Coeliac UK: Charity partnerships – How to work together to get the best results for patients
  • Heidi Urwin, Director of Evidence and Policy and Executive Director on the ISSCD Board: Wider awareness, greater diagnosis

For over 40 years ICDS has been the largest global meeting for health professionals, researchers, scientists and others working to promote scientific knowledge, education and quality of care in the field of coeliac disease and gluten mediated human disease. You can find more details about the event on the ICDS website, including the event programme here.

Please note: the event is now at full capacity and no late registrations will be accepted.

Coeliac UK will be attending the event and speaking to many of the experts, researchers and health professionals in attendance. The highlights will be shared across our website and social media channels following the event so stay tuned!
