Villous atrophy is seen in untreated coeliac disease but is not specific to coeliac disease and can be seen in other conditions. This presentation covers villous atrophy with negative coeliac disease and the differentiation between seronegative coeliac disease and non-coeliac enteropathies. In addition to this diagnostic dilemma, the long term outcomes of both seronegative coeliac disease and non-coeliac enteropathies are discussed.

Biography

Dr Annalisa Schiepatti is a researcher in Gastroenterology at the University of Pavia, Italy and junior consultant at Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri IRCCS, Pavia.

She graduated in 2011 and specialised in Internal Medicine in 2017 at the University of Pavia. She was appointed as PhD in Molecular Medicine in March 2020, at the University of Pavia. During her PhD, she spent 18 months in Sheffield (February 2018-August 2019), where as a clinical research fellow, she was involved in clinical research on seronegative coeliac disease and seronegative villous atrophy under the supervision of Professor David S Sanders.
