Welcome to your autumn update from your local coeliac group – and a special welcome to those of you who are new to the group.
Over the summer we have enjoyed meeting many of our members at our regular monthly coffee mornings in Waitrose Café, and a small group went for an Afternoon Tea with a difference at Palm Brasserie.
We look forward to seeing anyone who is free to come and join us at our future coffee mornings and also at our Christmas events – the children’s party and our Christmas meal at BCOT. Everyone is welcome to come and join us at Waitrose café in Basingstoke from 10:30 – 12:00.

We won’t be having a coffee morning in December because we’ve got our Christmas meal on 5 December.
Christmas Meal in Basingstoke
Following the success of the North Hampshire Christmas Dinner last year, we are planning a return visit to the BCOT Restaurant, Worting Road, Basingstoke RG21 8TN at 6pm on Thursday 5 December.
The cost for the 3 course dinner followed by coffee and mince pies will be £23.95 per person. A copy of the menu can be found on the BCOT Restaurant website. Special Events & Menus (bcot.ac.uk)
We only have a few places remaining, so if you have not already reserved your place for this event then please email us at northhampshire@coeliac.org.uk as soon as possible as places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We will then contact you with further details at the end of October.
Children’s Christmas Party
We are holding a Christmas Party again this year for families with coeliac children! The children can enjoy a gluten free buffet, with music and games by the experienced DJ NikNak. The party is taking place 3.30-5.30pm on Saturday 30 November.
This year we are able to subsidise tickets, with prices at £2 for adults, £10 for children age 4+ and £5 age 2-3. Pre-booking is required, with places on a first come first served basis. Places are filling up quickly with 20+ families (with 30+ children) already signed up, so email us asap if you would like to join us.
As with all our family events, children must be accompanied by their responsible grown up throughout the event. The party is taking place in Hook, a short drive/ train journey from Basingstoke and has on site parking. Please email us at

Raising funds for Coeliac UK
You may remember that in May, as part of Awareness Week, a group of 6 local coeliac children (and one sibling!) got very active to raise funds for Coeliac UK. One of them did 100 skips a day throughout the month and raised £475, while the others, between them, walked, ran, cycled, scooted and swam the (virtual) distance round North Hampshire (approx. 130 miles), raising £1100! An amazing total of £1575 raised for Coeliac UK thanks to the wonderful efforts of these energetic children! Well done to all of you!
