Sheffield CCG confirms changes to gluten-free prescribing policy

10 December 2015

We have received confirmation that Sheffield Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has changed their recommendations for gluten-free prescribing for adults.

The CCG is continuing to follow National Prescribing Guidelines for children, but adults will be limited to eight units per month, something they consider an 'interim solution' whilst other options are considered.

We have written to the Sheffield CCG in support of the National Prescribing Guidelines, have highlighted the pharmacy led supply scheme and have emphasised the need to consult with patients locally.

We're continuing to campaign to protect gluten-free staple items to remain on prescription for those with coeliac disease in England throughout these cuts, and will keep you updated with any news.
