Northumberland and North Tyneside CCGs changes to prescribing

30 January 2016

We have received confirmation that Northumberland and North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have changed their recommendations for gluten-free prescribing.

The CCGs are prescribing between six and eight units a month, depending on age, from a choice of bread, rolls, flour and flour mixes.

We have written to North Tyneside CCG, and a letter is being sent to Northumberland CCG regarding the policy that has ben introduced. We are highlighting the pharmacy led supply scheme as an option for consideration and are emphasising the need to consult with patients locally.

We're continuing to campaign to protect support for those with coeliac disease in England throughout these cuts, and will keep you updated with any news.
