North East Lincolnshire clinical commissioning group (CCG) update
20 May 2016
We have been made aware that North East Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has made a change to its policy for the prescribing of gluten-free food and are now restricting to eight units a month of bread and flour mixes. While we are reassured to see that a level of support is still being provided to patients with coeliac disease, we are concerned that the policy change represents a significant reduction in the amount and type of products available.
We have written to the CCG to express our concerns and to ask how it consulted with local patients as part of the policy development. We have also asked the CCG how it plans to ensure that monitoring is offered to patients.
We're continuing to campaign to protect support for those with coeliac disease in England throughout these cuts, and will keep you updated with any news. Please visit our campaign pages for more information.
