Great British Bake Off to feature a challenge involving alternative grains

7 October 2013

We’re pleased to hear that tomorrow night’s Great British Bake Off will feature a challenge involving alternative grains.

Some of the grains used may be naturally gluten-free – but not all of them.  In addition, the technical round sees the bakers making a gluten-free dessert and the show stopper must be dairy-free.

Although not all the recipes will be gluten-free and suitable for people with coeliac disease, we are delighted to see that such a popular television programme with millions of viewers is embracing the need for gluten-free and other special diets. More details can be found on the BBC website.

Although we have liaised with the programme over a number of months and provided them with correct information, we cannot be certain of the accuracy of the gluten-free references. We hope that the programme will highlight gluten-free ingredients correctly and will be enjoyable and educational for all.
