Getting the catering industry thinking about delivering gluten-free food
7 March 2012
Coeliac UK is sponsoring a class called The Gluten-free Challenge as one of a series of competitions run to find the best young chefs with the best culinary skills.
The prestigious Wessex Salon Culinaire asks catering college students and professional chefs to showcase their skills over two days of challenges looking at cooking with particular ingredients, cuisines and creating specific dishes.
Challenging young chefs and students to think creatively about gluten-free teaches them about coeliac disease and means that they will take their knowledge of the condition and the diet forward to their careers.
It’s great to see gluten-free challenges for chefs existing separately to our Gluten-free Chef of the Year competition and we really hope that this spurs young chefs and catering students to enter our competition.
The deadline for written entries is 15 March and the live final will take place on 4 April.
If you know someone who should enter, then make sure you let them know and give them the application form.
