Medway NHS Trust, Kent, East Sussex Downs and Weald and Hastings and Rother have reinstated fresh bread on prescription. Genius, Juvela and Glutafin breads can now be prescribed.

Previously these NHS Trusts stopped the prescribing of fresh bread due to concerns regarding additional handling and delivery charges being added to the cost of fresh gluten-free bread. However, Juvela, Glutafin, Genius and Warburtons have finalised agreements within the pharmacy supply chain to guarantee that additional costs will not be added in future.

The NHS Trusts have advised that it is important to speak with your pharmacist to ensure the fresh bread is picked up promptly. If the bread is wasted, this will not be replaced and taken from the monthly allowance.

We will keep everyone updated as we here more.
