Fresh bread in Ashton, Leigh & Wigan, Telford & Wrekin and Wirral

25 April 2013

From our ongoing discussions with NHS Trusts we are pleased to let you know that Ashton, Leigh & Wigan, Telford & Wrekin and Wirral NHS have now also reinstated fresh bread.

Fresh bread is available on prescription in these areas but there remain real concerns about the effective use of NHS resources by commissioners. A particular concern raised relates to the way fresh bread can only be supplied in boxes of 8 and potential wastage. To ensure products are not wasted, it is essential you ensure that you pick up the fresh bread promptly from the pharmacy and that you have the freezer space in order to stock your bread. Please help us keep this vital service by using it responsibly.
