Fighting for gluten-free prescriptions

7 December 2015

Tony Cartwright, a Member of our Health Advisory Network and pharmacist, has written a fantastic piece on the letters page of the Pharmaceutical Journal in which he states the case for gluten-free prescriptions to remain available to those diagnosed with coeliac disease.

“What a pity that three Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have ignored this advice completely and have stopped prescribing gluten-free foods and others have slashed the amounts allowed, thus creating a postcode health lottery,” he says.

It’s great to see another piece of coverage on our fight for gluten-free staples to remain intact for those with coeliac disease, and fantastic to see the matter being discussed by pharmacists in this widely read publication.
