East Riding of Yorkshire changes to gluten-free prescribing
19 February 2016
We have received confirmation that East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has changed its recommendations for gluten-free prescribing.
From 1 March, the CCG is prescribing eight units a month from a choice of bread, flour and flour mixes.
Prior to making this decision, East Riding of Yorkshire CCG held a consultation on gluten-free prescribing from 14 December 2015 to 10 January 2016. 122 people responded to the consultation survey with 83 (68%) people disagreeing with stopping gluten-free prescribing. We responded to the consultation highlighting the importance of support for people with coeliac disease on following the gluten-free diet and the pharmacy led supply scheme as an option for consideration.
We're continuing to campaign to protect support for those with coeliac disease in England throughout these cuts, and will keep you updated with any news.
