Devoted dad Martin O'Flaherty runs marathon in aid of Coeliac UK
22 April 2016
The prospect of a marathon is a daunting task for anyone, and especially for a first time runner. But Martin O’Flaherty is up for the challenge, all in aid of Coeliac UK.
The Walthamstow native became passionate about raising awareness for coeliac disease after his daughter Eva was diagnosed with the condition. Stating that he was “delighted to be running for the Charity this year,” he went on to say: “I am very happy to do my bit to raise awareness.”
The amazing efforts of people like Martin, who is aiming to raise over £500 come Sunday, really help us put our ‘Is it coeliac disease?’ message out there and we couldn’t be more grateful. We wish Martin the very best of luck on Sunday, when he hopes to finish the race in four hours.
With inspiring people like him out there raising awareness and funds, we can reach more undiagnosed people with coeliac disease than ever before. Want to find out what you can do? Get involved with our Awareness Week, taking place from 9-15 May or contact the Fundraising Team at fundraising@coeliac.org.uk.
