Coeliac UK Research Conference 2013

13 March 2013

On Tuesday 12 March, more than 100 healthcare professionals and researchers attended the Coeliac UK Research Conference on understanding coeliac disease, factors affecting diagnosis, follow-up and management.

Experts included Dr Jeremy Woodward, Consultant Gastroenterologist from Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, Dr Peter Mooney, Clinical Research Fellow in Gastroenterology, Helen Flaherty, a PhD student at the University of East Anglia, Dr Huw Jenkins, Paediatric Gastroenterologist from Cardiff, and Professor Bhupinder Sandhu who is responsible for establishing and developing the paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition unit at the Bristol Children's Hospital.

The conference was a fantastic way for healthcare professionals and researchers alike to get together and discuss some of the key issues in the field of coeliac disease, including the importance of patient follow-up treatment in non-responsive coeliac disease and factors affecting adherence to a gluten-free diet.

We would like to thank our sponsors for the day – Juvela, Glutafin, Warburtons and Thermo Fisher.
