Coeliac UK Research Call 2023
23 June 2023
Getting our research agenda back on track after the pandemic has been a key priority and after the successful research call last year, we are delighted to launch another £250,000 research call for 2023. Researchers from across the globe are invited to apply with project proposals that will take us on the next steps of our ‘Journey to a Cure’ for coeliac disease.
It is important to acknowledge that a ‘cure’ for coeliac disease means different things to different people. For some it means preventing coeliac disease from ever developing, for those already diagnosed it is no longer needing to have a gluten free diet and for some, it is successful management of their condition and maintaining health and wellbeing. We remain conscious of these differing views and that for all, a ‘cure’ means living a life that is not limited by gluten.
The generous donations to our Research Fund Appeal mean we can continue to fund research and we are so grateful for the exceptional support from our community.
Heidi Urwin, Director of Evidence and Policy, said: ‘The researchers working on coeliac disease rely on our vital funding stream to carry out projects that will lead to change for the coeliac community. I strongly encourage researchers from around the world to look at the scope of our research call and submit an application."
The closing date for applicants is 2 October 2023, 10:00 (GMT+1) and the expected start date for the project is early 2024.
