Coeliac Disease Quality Standard to be developed

2 April 2013

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) is developing Quality Standards which are designed to improve patient safety, experience and clinical effectiveness. There are a range of standards in development, including coeliac disease.

We are so pleased with this development as it builds on from the NICE Guideline on coeliac disease, published in 2009, and is the culmination of a number of years of work in this area to ensure that the policymakers and healthcare professionals are delivering better care for people with coeliac disease. Gaining national recognition of the need for improvements to care for people with the condition is an essential step in our campaign to improve recognition of coeliac disease amongst healthcare professionals.

We will have more news soon of the timetable for development of the standard and we will update you as soon as we know more. In the mean time, you can read more here.
