Call for earlier diagnosis of children across Europe

16 May 2018

Today on International Coeliac Day, the Association of European Coeliac Societies (AOECS) and the European Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) are calling for earlier diagnosis of children across Europe. As a member of AOECS, we are supporting their manifesto for better and earlier diagnosis in children to ensure children grow and thrive by managing their condition with a strict gluten free diet. Coeliac disease is the most common food-related chronic disease among children in Europe, with prevalence rising in recent decades. Despite that, diagnosis rates are still chronically low, around 80%. Visit coeliac.org.uk/children for more information.
